Alumni Spotlight: James Couch – Building Success, Giving Back, and Honoring Faith

Jacksonville, FL - Trinity Christian Academy takes great pride in producing exceptional graduates who go on to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Among those distinguished alumni is James Couch, a 1991 graduate whose journey from TCA to a successful business owner exemplifies the transformative power of education and the profound influence of faith.

James Couch's TCA journey began in the '80s when he joined the Academy's football and baseball teams. His passion for sports and dedication to academics laid the foundation for a promising future. After completing his high school education at TCA, James pursued higher education at Maranatha Baptist University, where he continued to excel in both football and baseball. In 1995, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education.

In a testament to his commitment to Trinity Christian Academy, James returned to his alma mater after college and taught mathematics for a brief period. Little did he know that his career path would lead him elsewhere while still maintaining a deep connection with TCA.

In the years that followed, James embarked on a remarkable entrepreneurial journey. He established several successful construction companies, including the reputable Duval Concrete Contracting, Inc., which he has been leading for the past 18 years. James's impressive business success has allowed him to give back to the institution that played a pivotal role in his personal and professional development.

One of the ways James has shown his appreciation to Trinity Christian Academy is through his generous contributions to building a state-of-the-art baseball facility for current and future students. As a former baseball player at TCA and Maranatha Baptist University, James understands the value of exceptional facilities in nurturing young talent. His commitment to fostering an environment where students can thrive in sports and academics is a testament to his love for the school.

James's dedication to TCA is further evidenced by his family's involvement with the institution. His wife, Becki Couch, a former member of the Duval Co. Board of Education, has served on TCA's board, bringing valuable insights and perspectives to the school's leadership. Additionally, James and Becki's children, Noah and Levi, followed in their father's footsteps and attended Trinity Christian Academy. Both boys excelled in baseball during their time at TCA, with one of them continuing to pursue their passion for the sport at the collegiate level.

For James, TCA has been more than just a school; it has been a spiritual haven that nurtured his relationship with God. He attributes his strong spiritual foundation to the Bible classes he attended from kindergarten through high school. The hymns he learned during elementary chapel, led by the inspiring Jim Schaefer, have remained with him throughout the years, providing comfort and guidance in his life's journey. Recalling his time at TCA, James shared,

"Every aspect - academically and spiritually - Bible classes played a huge role in my development as a person."

Among his cherished memories of TCA, James fondly recalls the Homecoming parades, which brought the entire school community together in a spirit of celebration and camaraderie.

As James Couch continues to make a difference through his successful business ventures and unwavering commitment to Trinity Christian Academy, he remains humbled by the faith and the ability God has bestowed upon him to serve others. His life stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, the impact of a nurturing spiritual environment, and the profound sense of community that TCA instills in its students. James's journey serves as an inspiration to current and future students, reminding them of the endless possibilities that await when faith, education, and determination intersect.

Trinity Christian Academy is incredibly proud of James Couch and the remarkable path he has taken. His accomplishments and dedication to giving back exemplify the true spirit of TCA alumni.
