Rain & Lightning Pickup Policy

Elementary Pickup

It is imperative that administrative personnel always do what they believe is in the best interest of TCA students and faculty. With this in mind, the administrative team proposes a cautious approach when dealing with inclement weather.

There are a variety of policies in counties throughout Florida. We believe it is best for students to stay inside until 30 minutes after hearing the last thunder.

According to NOAA/National Weather Service, as a rule, if a person hears thunder that person is close enough to be struck by lightning. Lightning has been known to strike up to fifteen miles away from the parent cloud.

If it is raining, lightning, thunder can be heard, or has been heard 30 minutes prior, you will have to come to the building for your child.

Please, park your car in the parking lot and come to your child’s designated spot to pick up your child.
(If you have multiple students to pick up you will need to go to each of their designated pick-up rooms.)

At dismissal time, students will be assigned to the following rooms:

  • Grade 1 Room E-12
  • Grade 2 Room E-9
  • Grade 3 Room E-8
  • Grade 4 Room F-6
  • Grade 5 T- Buildling
  • Grade 6 T – Building (6B & 6C only)
  • Grade 6 3rd Grade Hallway (6A, 6D, &6E)

Parents who have arrived at school to pick up their children and do not wish to come into the building may pull into a parking lot and wait in their cars until after the weather clears and students are dismissed. While we apologize for the inconvenience, our first priority is the safety of TCA students and staff.
