TCA’s New Pitching Coach, John Wasdin

Jacksonville, FL – June 2020 – As high school sports programs across the country are preparing for the upcoming season, Trinity is working on developing its roster of coaches to effectively mold and develop each and every athlete that represents our school.  As part of that goal, John Wasdin, a Tallahassee native, will be joining Trinity’s Varsity Baseball Program this fall as a pitching coach.

Experience:

John was a first round draft pick by the Oakland A’s in 1993 and played 17 years professionally – 12 seasons in the MLB, plus 2 seasons in Japan. He was a minor league pitching coach for 6 years at all levels with the Oakland A’s, plus the minor league pitching coordinator for 2 years and bullpen coach with the Baltimore Orioles.

John began playing baseball from a young age, when his father taught and coached him on every position of a baseball field. He has continued to harbor a passion for the sport, now deciding to become a coach himself. When asked why John was a good fit for this role, Head Baseball Coach Jon Murphy says,  “John brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience to TCA baseball, but more importantly has a heart and desire to develop young men and point them to Christ.”

Why TCA?

When deciding where to coach, John says that choosing Trinity was an easy choice. “I have heard nothing but positive and good things about Coach Murphy and his staff, plus there is a long-standing tradition of character, integrity and success with this program.” John has high hopes for the upcoming season, believing that he can make an impact not only on each player’s skills, but on their walk with Christ as well.

Trinity Christian Academy is excited for the opportunities this next school year will bring and hopes that the varsity baseball team – as well as every other team that represents Trinity – will have an amazing season! Go Conquerors!
